History of Yeezy

Kanye West initially collaborated with Nike before discussing a clothing line called "Pastelle" and designing a shoe for Adidas in 2006, which didn't materialize. In 2013, West parted ways with Nike due to royalty disputes over his Air Yeezy designs, leading him to strike a deal with Adidas where he retains full creative control and 100% ownership of his brand. The Adidas Yeezy collaboration officially launched with "Yeezy Season 1" in February 2015, featuring military-inspired designs influenced by the 2011 England riots. Subsequent Yeezy Seasons followed, including Season 2 in September 2015 and Season 3, which expanded into a new category. By 2019, Yeezy sneakers generated over $1.3 billion in annual revenue, rivalling Air Jordan in cultural impact and commercial success. Despite this, Kanye West criticized Adidas in 2022 for alleged design copying and unfulfilled promises, announcing he won't renew his contract after 2026.
