How the Nike Air Max 270 was born

The Nike Air Max 270 is the youngest member of the Air Max family and was released on Air Max Day 2018. The concept, however, looks back on a long history, as the Air Max with Air sole has been around for over 30 years.

When Nike developed the concept for this sneaker, two famous models from the Air Max line were the inspiration. The AM 270 is a fusion of the Air Max 180 and the Air Max 93. The idea was to create a new Air Max Silhouette that would match the performance of all Nike air-cushioned sports footwear and look completely new. The current model is in a way a tribute to the Air Max 180 and the Air Max 93. The shoe shows design features of both models. The look is a little reminiscent of the Air Max 180, the dominant Air Bubble is taken from the Air Max 93.

At the beginning of the development was the idea to make the visible Air Bubble for this model a little thicker. During the development there were reservations, such a large, visible air unit in the heel seemed to be impossible. But Air Max Creative Director Dylan Raasch and his team made it possible after a series of tests and trials.

On February 1, 2018, the new silhouette of the Air Max 270 was released in the Light Bone Introductory Colorway. Nike fans could first admire the new shoe through Nike's app. On 26 March 2018 the Air Max 270 made its debut in the Nike Stores. His colours were inspired by the AM 93. More Colorways followed.
